Hi,

I am Tomoe, Japanese, living in San Diego. Now I'm a recruiter for San Diego University for Integrative Studies, SDUIS. In order to introduce this school to plenty of people--- especially those who are studying NCLEX-RN and those who want to get Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Social Security Number (SS#), I am writing this blog.

First of all, I posted the course descriptions.

Because of official documents, this descriptions look difficult; however, the teachers, classmates are really friendly as if you were in a family!

The class is very interactive compared with ESL class. I hope you can improve nursing knowledge related to the NCLEX-RN as well as English conversation skill.

はじめまして。ともえです。

私のような境遇の方がとても多いのに受験制度やVisaの問題は現実かなり厳しいという、なんともやりきれない感じですが、私の学校を紹介します！

私たちのクラスはとても新しいコースで私たちのような境遇の生徒が発足させて2年くらいになります。
現在、私たちは日本人５名、ミャンマー人1名、ブラジル人1名の計７名で授業を受けています。授業は基本的には週1回か2回。学校以外の時間は、みんな病院でボランティアをしたり、自己勉強(これが基本)という感じで過ごしています。

この学校は語学学校と大学のパートからなっていて、NCLEXコースは大学のパートに所属することになります。
自己勉強が基本で週１、２回しか授業がないので、授業料も＄４００／月です。6週間が１コース＄６００、Total7コースあります。約11カ月で終了後はOPTがもらえます。なので学費はTotalで＄４２００。
OPTの申請と同時にSSNの申請もできるので、受験できるというシステムです。

私がこの学校に決めた理由は、①OPTがもらえる(これは他のところに私が調べた中ではありませんでした)　OPTがもらえないとSSNの問題とは別に、資格取得後Visaの問題が出てきます。OPTがあれば1年はリーガルで働くことができるのでそこに惹かれました。

②学費が安い(トータル＄４２００)、最悪もし変な学校でも試してみる価値はあるかもしれないと思いました。笑　

③サンディエゴから離れなくていい。サンディエゴは本当にいいところです♡
こんなところでしょうか。

もし、自己学習が苦でない方であれば、このコースを私はとても進めます。とはいっても、私も本当に自己勉強が苦手なのでクラスのみんなにいつも助けてもらっています。7人の小さなクラスなのでとてもアットホームです。

AIDS Walk is the single largest one-day HIV/AIDS fundraiser in San Diego. The annual event consists of a 5K AIDS Walk and a USA Track & Field certified 10K AIDS Run. Funds raised provide essential services - food, shelter, healthcare, counseling, etc. - to women, men and children fighting HIV/AIDS throughout San Diego County. FINALLY, NUR603 OB starts!

For about three months, we were in spring vacation, but with my favorite teacher NUR603 OB has started.

This course consists of different kind of methodology as follows:

Almost our classmates(past and present) passed NCLEX-RN! I am really happpy with this result. My NCLEX test-taking strategy is very simple:

• Meet same friends.
• Study at least 8 hours a day, 5days a week, for at least 6-9 months. NO VACATION.
• Organize your note. (This is very vital)
• Check and Memorize at least 4000 questions. Do not skip them. Solve all questions.

Our school is opening from 9am-10pm. In addition, Nursing class room is only for nursing students as of now. You can use this class room for your study room with your same friends.

Winter 2010 Quarter is finished. Our class had two courses: medical/surgical concept I&II. This picture was taken recently for one classmate's birthday! In addition, she finished all courses. Congratulations! Happy birthday and happy graduation! We love her. She was a good organizer who prepared a video projector, education materials, study notes and a lot of cakes & snacks and so on. I hope her heart-warming action and attitudes will deserve to be rewarded. I thank her for giving us wonderful memories.

The medical/surgical concept I&II in winter 2010 quarter was taught by a doctor, internist. She used unique education materials as well as SAUNDERS COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW FOR THE NCLEX-RN® EXAMINATION as follows:

She is a graduate from our class, a outstanding student. In additon, she is one of three people who made this class! At that moment, these three people found teachers for our class!

If you want to get test taking strategies for the NCLEX-RN, you should lesten to her voice!!

She passed the NCLEX-RN last year. This test was first time for her. She took only 75 questions instead of 265 questions.

What she said is:

• Know and be accustomed to medical terminology.
• Use the golden text book: SAUNDERS COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW FOR THE NCLEX-RN® EXAMINATION

This class, Certificate in Integrative Nursing Course, started in April 2009. Who do you think made this class? The teachers made this class, do you think? NO!! This is big NO!!

Incruding me, some foreign studens were learning English in the ESL at SDUIS, we recognized that we were nurses in their own countries and prepared for the NCLEX-RN (nursing examination for RN).

A French student of us said to me, "We need special class for us such as NCLEX-RN preparation class that also ensures our F-1 visa status. And, this course must be a crtification course!"

When I heard her opinion, I thought it was impossible to create new class by our selves. That is because we are just student!!

However, the result was totally different!!

She and two other foreign students wrote a persuasive essay, and they send the essay to our school's director.

What do you think happened after that?

Yes, this course came into existence in the world!! That is why I really appreciate it that they did. I am proud of this course, and I want to help those who try to study the NCREX-RN.
